Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition and Food, 2012, Ryerson University
M.Sc. Human Nutrition, 2014, McGill University
Ph.D. Human Nutrition, 2015-2018, McGill University

The main objective of Kate’s research is to investigate women’s empowerment and its relationship to food security and nutrition over time. It is hypothesized that as women become more empowered, they and their families will be more food secure and have better nutritional outcomes. This project intends to positively impact women’s empowerment by identifying areas of disempowerment and generating ways to overcome these barriers. Her doctoral fieldwork will be conducted in two departments of Colombia: Nariño and Cundinamarca.
